New Wordpress Update

Posted by David with 1 Comment

Wordpress version 2.8.1 is available. Those with Wordpress self-hosted blogs will see “Please Update to Wordpress 2.8.1” at the top of each dashboard page when they sign-in.

Wordpress always suggests that you backup your blog’s database before any update but, to be frank, I do not. Managing more than a dozen blogs, I simply do no have the time. I found, however, that the update to Wordpress 2.8.1 happened smoothly and without a hitch when I clicked Update Automatically.

I also updated immediately, but I used the WordPress Automatic Plugin. It makes the process go very smooth and makes the backups for you. It deactivates the plugins for you, gets the new version for – it does everything for you. All you have to do is follow the onscreen instructions and press click where it reads click here. Smooth sailing all the way through and you get one file for your database backups and one file for your files and folders. It really could not be any more simple and I am glad there is a plugin for this process because the other way on the WordPress Codex page is very complicated.
