How Wordpress Handles Time Zones

Posted on March 12, 2009 by David with No Comments

We had a time change just now in America, from standard time to daylight savings time. While most computers handle such time changes automatically, Wordpress software that drives blogs does not. It is a manual change but takes just a minute.

Sign-in, and go to Settings, General. Look for Time Zone. In America, it’s a minus from UTC or Universal Coordinated Time. They used to call it Greenwich Mean Time.

So, Eastern daylight savings time is -4; Central daylight savings time is -5; Mountain daylight savings time is -6; and, Pacific daylight savings time is -7. Always remember to click Save at the bottom of the page when finished.
