There has been a spike in spam attacks on Wordpress blogs this week. No one seems to know why but the attacks come through the more vulnerable Comment section of blog postings. Many spam messages are evading Akismet, the built-in and normally effective Wordpress spam filter.
As a supplement to Akismet, consider installing Bad Behavior by Michael Hampton. Bad Behavior has proven to be effective in blocking spambots and new automated spam attacks against Wordpress blogs.
